Farmer-to-Farmer Mentoring: Propagation Options (Fullsun Farm, Leicester, NC, from 2006-05-15 10:00 to 2006-05-15 12:00)
Farmers teaching farmers - this is 15 week series taking several crops from start to finish- each class designed to stand alone - come to one or all! This weeks class will focus on Propagation - seed selection, transplant production, and plant by mail at Fullsun Farms. Preregistration is not required, but helpful if you want handouts and a $5 fee will be charged. Direction to Full Sun Farm: Take Patton Ave west in to West Asheville. Turn RIGHT onto New Leicester Hwy., Hwy 63. There is an Ingles Grocery store at that corner. Take Leicester Hwy about 11 miles. Turn LEFT onto NORTH TURKEY CREEK RD. There is a little store called “The Trading Post” there at the corner. From that turn, the farm is 6.2 miles. After about a mile the road forks, take the RIGHT fork. It goes up and to the right. At this point the road changes names to Early’s Mountain Rd. Go up and over the mountain. The road levels out and opens up into a big valley. You will pass three roads off to the left. The third road is WILLOW CREEK RD. Go past Willow Creek and the farm is the first house on the LEFT, #90. Now the road has changed names twice more since you came off the mountain. It is now Bald Creek Rd., no matter it’s the same road as you came over the mountain on. Trust the directions. There is very limited cell service out in Sandy Mush, so if you get lost you’ll have to stop and ask for assistance. Good luck. Any problems – please call Diane Ducharme cell 828-545-1943 This series is sponsored by NC A & T, the Organic Growers School, and NC Cooperative Extension.
